| PARADISE IN HOLLAND With summer around the corner, mark your calendar now for the first Open Garden Tour of the summer on June 7 at Paradise Acres, 4012 64th Street, Holland. Jami Baker, and her brother Mike, are looking forward to hosting the GVDS at 6:30 pm. Mike is the owner/operator of Paradise Acres which is home base to his landscaping business. Jami grows the majority of her daylilies on the property because her Texas Longhorns like daylilies as much as she does. With a full acre of daylilies, boxwood shrubs grown from cuttings, an expanding inventory of ferns, hosta, bearded and Siberian iris, coreopsis, monarda, sedums, along with many other varieties of perennials, there will be plenty of garden beauty to keep you busy looking. A special treat will be the Japanese/English inspired garden. Since the weather has started off warmer than normal this year, there could likely be some early daylilies in bloom during our visit. A daylily division demonstration will be conducted at 7 pm at the potting table area. A nice added bonus to our first garden tour of the season is that potted or bare root plant stock will be available for purchase. You may want to shop ahead of time and call with your order so it will be ready for you. Their reasonably priced daylily inventory can be reviewed at Paradise Acres plant listing Call Jami at (616) 218-2225 to answer questions and provide prices. Directions from Grand Rapids: Take I-196 west to exit 41 toward Saugatuck/Douglas. From the exit ramp, go west (right) for 1 block. Turn right onto 64th Street (Burger King on corner) and go north 2.2 miles. Turn into the 1st driveway past 140th Avenue on left side. Parking is available on the property. Remember to bring your folding lawn chair! |
